1. A lesson on overdelivering
1. A lesson on overdelivering You sometimes hear about how important it is to overdeliver to your clients. Well, the other day I saw firsthand how overdelivering as a translator can have big results. A potential client wanted me to translate a few webpages on their website. They also asked if I was able to do some basic HTML coding. I responded that I could do coding and that I could translate their pages. I quoted them a relatively moderate price because the HTML wasn't going to be very difficult. After they received the quote, they were surprised that I would charge so little. I explained that I wasn't charging as much because most of the HTML was fairly straightforward and I didn't feel right charging more. They were happy and ended up giving me the job. The best part, though, was that they now want me to do a significantly bigger project because I was so honest with them up front and willing to overdeliver. Great for them and great for me. Those are the results of overdelivering. What can you do to overdeliver in your business? 2. The new ebook launch - The Freelance Translator's Ultimate List of Translation Agencies This is some of the most exciting news I've had in a long time. After a few months, I've finally finished the final review of my new eBook, The Freelance Translator's Ultimate List of Translation Agencies. It topped out 49 pages and gets right down to business with a list of nearly 400 translation agencies throughout the world looking for freelance translators. It's a great resource for translators looking to build their list of clients and get more work. Check it out. 3. Quote - Vaclav Havel "Work for something because it is good, not just because it stands a chance to succeed." Anything you want to say? Let me know. I'd love to hear anything you've got to say, from suggestions to comments to your translation experiences. Just reply to this zine and tell me what you think!
