1. Do you need to be a certified translator?

As translators, we often hear about certification. Every translator has his/her own opinion about the whole process and for translators just starting out, it can be a source of confusion.

Should I become certified?

Do I have to be certified to translate?

What if I don't pass the test? Do I give it all up?

These are questions that almost all translators have asked themselves. When I was starting out, I had these same questions and it seemed like I couldn't get a straight answer. Well, to help those who might have these same questions, you can read my thoughts on the subject.

Speed of Sound - I talked about this company with the last newsletter and they are now offering $60 to talk on the phone and record your voice saying numbers in Spanish. However, they're only looking for Spanish speakers with Puerto Rican, Cuban, and Mexican accented Spanish. If you're from one of these countries, you might as well do it.
