Becoming a translator
I have recently moved back to the US after living in Spain for two years and traveling through Central America for five months. I have done very minimal freelance translation work while living in Spain. I have a Bachelor's in English Literature and Spanish. I want to break into the Spanish translation world in New York City, where I live, but am not sure how to go about it. I'd prefer to be an in-house translator than a freelance translator, but with such little experience, I don't think anyone would hire me. I'd be willing to do anything to get started, including being a secretary for a translation firm or even better, a proofer. I'm not sure how to get into those jobs either. Does anyone have any advice for a newbie? I'd greatly appreciate it. Thank you.
