The Franklin LM-6000b
The Language Master Dictionary

The Franklin LM-6000b is one of Franklin's most popular electronic dictionaries.

While Franklin does have many different electronic products to choose from, this particular speaking dictionary has some very nice features that make it an ideal dictionary for improving your English vocabulary.

I've always been impressed with the technology that companies are able to include in their dictionaries, whether they be monolingual or bilingual dictionaries, and the Franklin definitely lives up to that.

The Franklin LM-6000b has about 130,000 words in its database, with around 300,000 definitions and over 500,000 synonyms. That's a lot of words to study! Apart from the enormous amount of vocabulary, however, is the ability to have different vocabulary lists for different users. That's right, now multiple people can share the same one and you don't have to get additional dictionaries.

Another great thing about Franklin LM6000b Speaking Language Master is that there are a ton of vocab games included which is nice because I don't know anyone that likes to study vocabulary by looking at a list of words and definitions. It's a lot more fun and makes words easier to remember when you can play games to help.

One thing I don't like about this dictionary is that it takes four AA batteries. I like to have the rechargeable battery where I can just plug the unit into the wall and have it charged back up in a couple of hours. Make sure you invest in some rechargeable batteries if you get this, though, because there's nothing worse than having to buy batteries over and over again. The batteries also make it kind of heavy, which isn't something you necessarily want in a "portable" dictionary.

If you do decided check it out, make sure you go through Amazon.com because it's about thirty dollars cheaper there than it is on the Franklin website. Just follow this link for the Franklin LM6000b Speaking Language Master.
