The hard part is being able to find the ones that are kept up-to-date and can allow you to do things like look up words in both Spanish and English.
In my searching online, I've found a couple of free online medical dictionaries and glossaries that I think can be very useful for medical translation in Spanish and English.
As such, I've posted them here so as to make your searching a little easier. If you have any resources that you particularly use, let me know and I'll put a link here to it.
Free online medical Spanish translation resources:
English medical dictionaries
- Dictionary from the Department of Oncology at the University of Newcastle
- MedlinePlus Encyclopedia: resource from the National Library of Medicine. The website is also in Spanish at Medlineplus.gov/spanish/.
- Medterms.com: contains over 16,000 medical terms.
- Viatusalud: contains over 18,000 terms.
- Medicina de Familia: listing of various medical dictionaries in both Spanish, English, and both.
- Family Doctor: terms and definitions in Spanish and English from the American Academy of Family Physicians
- Multilingual glossary: only has around 1900 words.
