Getting paid half up front

I know a lot of translators that decide to do this. They've been burned too many times by people who never pay after the job is done, so what they do is take half the payment up front and then when the job is finished, they get the second half and then deliver the translation.

If the translation job is a really big one, you can also divide up the job in thirds or more parts so that it's easier to make sure you get paid.
