In historical fiction books, particularly those depicting pioneering on the great plains and out west, the name "July" has been used for male characters. Seems to me this was a more common name in the late 1800's.

The English equivalent for a boy would be Julian. For a girl, Julia. I think it's a fairly uncommon male name but there are plenty of Julians about in the UK and lots of lots of Julias.
