Linguistic journals for translators

I've also included a brief description from the websites of the respective linguistic journals to give you an idea of what the journal's focus is. For the most part, you have to buy a subscription to the journals in order to read the articles, but you might instead be able to get access to them from a local university library.

Another option is the Linguistics Abstracts Online. For an annual fee, you can get access to the articles in some of the translation-specific journals, as well as some of the other linguistic journals.

Babel: International Journal of Translation - Babel is a scholarly journal designed primarily for translators and interpreters, yet of interest also for the nonspecialist concerned with current issues and events in the field of translation.

Interpreting: International Journal of Research and Practice in Interpreting - Interpreting serves as a medium for research and debate on all aspects of interpreting, in its various modes, modalities (spoken and signed) and settings (conferences, media, courtroom, healthcare and others).

Linguistica Antverpiensia New Series - Linguistica Antverpiensia, New Series, is the journal of the Hoger Instituut voor Vertalers en Tolken, Hogeschool Antwerpen. It is an annual publication devoted to the study of language, translation and culture, with a special focus on translation in its many oral and written manifestations. The journal is not bound to any particular school of thought or academic group.

Target: International Journal on Translation Studies - Target promotes the scholarly study of translational phenomena from a thoroughly interdisciplinary and international point of view. Rather than reducing research on translation to the practical questions asked by translators, their committers or their audience, the aim is to examine the role of translation in communication in general, with emphasis on cultural situations and theoretical, methodological and didactic matters.

Terminology: International Journal of Theoretical and Applied Issues in Specialized Communication - Terminology is an independent journal with a cross-cultural and cross-disciplinary scope. It focuses on the discussion of (systematic) solutions not only of language problems encountered in translation, but also, for example, of (monolingual) problems of ambiguity, reference and developments in multidisciplinary communication.
