Medical Spanish Translation Dictionaries and Glossaries
Medical Spanish translation is an important translation field that requires lots of training and specialized knowledge.
In fact, some of the best medical spanish translators and interpreters not only have excellent linguistic skills, but have extensive experience working in the medical field. When translation and interpretation can have such an imnportant effect on someone's life like medical translation can, it's important that translators have the best resources available to aid them. For that, I've decided to put together a couple of lists of good medical Spanish translation resources that both beginning and more experienced medical translators can use to help them in their profession. The first section lists some free translation resources you can find online, while the second list contains books and dictionaries on medical Spanish translation that you can find online at Amazon.com. Free Medical Spanish Translation ResourcesSpanish Medical Dictionary This is a decent free online dictionary of medical terms. The one thing I don't like about this glossary is that you have to click on each letter to look for a word beginning with that letter. It makes it a bit clunky to search for medical terms this way. English - Spanish Dictionary of Health Related Terms Published by the California-Mexico Health Initiative, this is .pdf file containing not only health-related terms, but also terminology related to emergency and disaster preparedness. Dr. Frankenstein's Medical Dictionary This is a pretty basic glossary which contains mostly the translation of questions you might ask in a medical setting. English to Spanish Glossaries from Proz Proz.com has a bunch of user-submitted translations on a variety of topics, including Spanish medical translation. Paid Medical Spanish Translation ResourcesSince I don't specialize in medical translation, it's hard for me to recommend any specific book or database that medical translators would find useful in during the course of their work. However, if you search Amazon.com, you might find something that fits the needs you have as a Spanish medical translator.
