Medical Translation Certification

by Mario
(Madrid, Spain)

I have found your posts most useful.

I am in the process of changing careers, and in the midts of a harsh recession here in Spain, so I really have no time to fool around with things that might look good but that would give me little or no value when searching for clients.

I have been involved so far in marketing and sales online with different companies, and in the process of dealing with clients and business partners, I have done quite a good deal of translations and localisation of web text, product descriptions, articles, etc. aside from wrirting some of the articles myself (in both english and spanish and mainly for the medical, health, and beauty sectors.

I am a Radiologist myself, though not practicing, and a student of Traditional Chinese Medicine.

I have gone freelance and I want to focus on medical text translations of course, for obvious reasons.

I do not hold any translation certification (I did however an Advanced Simultaneos Interpretation course and got the diploma) but I have good knowledge of my mother tongue (Spanish) and of english. I have clinical practice as a radiologist and graduated with academic excellence at the time. I can reasearch and write well as well as translate quickly.

So....having said all that, my question is: should I really go for any of these certifications? is there a really good, quick, non expensive Medical Certification (online or correspondance) that would probably add real value to my experience and enhance my chances of getting more business?

I look forward to some reply (looking more for a personal opinion from anyone).

Thanks in advance for the Coaching.
