Spain adopted the Euro currency from the very start (year 2002). Before then the country's currency was the "peseta." It no longer circulates.

The smallest fraction of an euro is a "cent" or "céntimo."

0.10 € = "diez céntimos"

0.20 € = "veinte céntimos"

0.50 € = "cincuenta céntimos"
