Question about certification

Ok, here's the thing. My second language is Spanish. I speak both English and Spanish fluently. I've been translating for claimants who get injured on the job, for several years now. After several years of occasionally translating for the claims company, they now has begun to ask me if I'm certified?!

I been doing some looking into testing for certification, but I come to find out that the testing is for doing courtroom translating. Is there another kind of testing that can be taken and that will still certify me as a translator, but that doesn't require heavy weight translating such as that of a courtroom setting? Most of the claimants that I translate for don't even know legal terms and use the everyday conversational type of Spanish. I live in the state of California.
