R U sure it's Ronald? When not used as a name, renato is Italian for reborn. That would make René the French equivalent, for which there is no English translation; it's simply René. BTW I've known Latins named Ronaldo. I believe the English name Ronald has its origins in Old English or one of those, not in Latin or any Romance language.
