Sign Language Interpreters

No discussion about interpretation can be complete without talking about sign language interpreters.

When people think of interpreting and the interpretation profession, they often think of sign language interpreting. In fact, when typing "interpretation" or a similar word in a search engine, most of the results that are returned are related to sign language interpreting.

Most people equate sign language interpreting with ASL, or American Sign Language. However, ASL is only one of various sign languages that are used throughout the world, with British Sign Language and French Sign Language being just a couple of sign languages.

More and more people are training to be sign language interpreters and there are many organizations in the United States and other countries that have the aim of helping sign language interpreters become better interpreters.

If you're interested in sign language interpretation, follow the links on this page and the previous page to find out more about it.
