None of the above, mami is used in spanish the same as honey or sweetheart, mexicans use to say (vieja) is more used to say you are recognized.

Depends on the context,it can be used as a term of endearment if you're addressing your mother.A man can also use it to address a girl he loves like his girlfriend or daughter. In the context used in your case the guy was saying that your're a pretty girl (babe) it "should" be taken as a compliment thogh some women may find it too personal especially if they don't know the man addressing them.
