Spanish Bible Translation
Just as in English, there are many different Spanish Bible translations. Individual differences vary on what someone looks for when they buy a Bible, and it is no different when buying a Bible in Spanish.
When I'm reading the Bible, I like the language to reflect the time period and for that reason prefer a more classical Spanish Bible translation. If that's something that you prefer, I'd suggest you get the
1909 Reina Valera
version.
This Spanish translation of the Bible retains the traditional style of the Spanish language and most Spanish-speaking Christians use the Reina Valera. It was first published in 1569, forty-two years before the King James version and is a great addition for your Spanish Bible study.
Sample passage:
El Génesis 1:16-18
16 E hizo Dios los dos grandes lumbreras; la lumbrera mayor para que señorease en el día, y la lumbrera menor para que señorease en la noche: hizo también las estrellas.
17 Y púsolas Dios en la expansión de los cielos, para alumbrar sobre la tierra,
18 Y para señorear en el dia y en la noche, y para apartar la luz y las tinieblas: y vio Dios que era bueno.
If you're more interested in getting a Spanish English Bible, there are some options out there as well. I personally do not own one but I'm sure they're great for learning either Spanish or English by reading the Bible. Here are some
