The Dictionary of Chicano Spanish
A Spanish English Slang Dictionary

A really good Spanish English slang dictionary specific to slang spoken on the U.S. - Mexican border is the Dictionary of Chicano Spanish.

In terms of dictionaries, it is pretty small because it only has about 9,000 words and definitions in about 250 pages; however most all of these are slang terms, as well as slang phrases and proverbs.

The only drawback to this Mexican slang dictionary is that it is pretty old. I've talked before about how slang changes more frequently than standard vocabulary in a language and slang can change completely in that amount of time.

Well, this dictionary was published in 1995. That's over 10 years old! It would be nice if the editors decided to come out with another edition, but I don't think it's in the works.

Even though it is old, it still is a great addition to your Spanish dictionary library. You can get this Spanish English slang dictionary (the Dictionary of Chicano Spanish) at Amazon for about $5 used which makes it a great deal as far as a slang dictionary.
