Spanish Interpreter Jobs

There are a ton of Spanish interpreter jobs available today. While a lot of interpreters work in many different language pairs, Spanish and English interpretation remains one of the most sought after skills by businesses and interpretation agencies.

It can be tricky to find good Spanish interpreter jobs, but the good thing is that the Internet has opened a whole new world of possibilities for interpreters looking for work.

One of the first things that interpreters should check out are interpretation/translation agencies looking for translators. While it is possible to find these agencies on your own, it can be really tedious and time-consuming. However, there is a really great list put out by the Translation Directory. You have to pay for these lists, but they are updated all the time and are a great way to get in quick contact with a bunch of relevant agencies.

In addition to contacting agencies, another good way to find Spanish interpreter jobs is to build a website. I've mentioned it before, but this website has brought in more business than I ever had before. It is a great way to get your name in front of more people. You can see a video of how I do this.

One of the mistakes that beginning interpreters (and translators for that matter) make is that they go to general job boards on the internet like Monster.com and look for Spanish interpreter jobs. While this may seem to be an easy way to find available jobs, it is usually very ineffective. Millions of people are looking at those jobs at the same time you are, and even though you may have great skills, they probably aren't enough to set you apart from anybody else. Also, a lot of interpretation jobs are short-term jobs, and so it usually isn't worth an employer's time or money to post the job on a job board.

If you are interested in Spanish interpreter jobs with the state courts, a great resource with links to to the relevant websites can be found at the National Center for State Courts.
