Spanish medical translation

Spanish medical translation is a must. Hispanics are now the number one minority in the United States. This means that more and more Spanish speakers are going to the doctor and to the hospitals seeking medical attention.

However, while there has been a big increase in the number of Spanish-speaking patients going to the doctor, the number of doctors and nurses that actually speak Spanish is not going up nearly as fast.

The language barrier is real and by not being able to break down that barrier, both doctors and patients are becoming more and more at risk. For this reason, it's important to consider investing in tools that can help you as a medical professional communicate with your patients.

There are many tools that can help you communicate better in Spanish. This article will focus on electronic tools that can help you with Spanish medical translation.

The need for Spanish medical translation is not different than the need for other types of Spanish translation. The medical Spanish translator needs to be fast and accurate. Imagine waiting on a patient and not being able to communicate with them because you're trying to figure out how the Spanish translator is set up! If you can't access it quickly it's no good.

At the same time, if the medical Spanish translator (interpreter) doesn't have the information you need stored in the memory, it is no good. Therefore, two things must be present: speed and accuracy. (See a trend?)

In addition to speed and accuracy, other features included with a medical Spanish translator will help make your job easier. Some of these features include:

  • Spanish medical terminology covering a wide range of medical situations
  • Ability to add new vocabulary
  • English speech recognition
  • Ability to search by phrase or single word
While there are a few electronic medical Spanish translators on the market, the only one that comes close to having all these features, plus more, is Ectaco's Spanish medical translation tool (the Speech-to-Speech Medical SpeechGuard MD-4).

It's a perfect tool for medical professionals and after you get one, you'll wonder how you ever got along without it.

And, while I don't know all the tax rules, there is a possibility that this medical Spanish translator could be considered a tax write-off. For that you'll have to get in touch with a tax professional.

Regardless of which medical Spanish translation tool you end up using, the important thing to remember is... speed and accuracy. Your patients will thank you for it.
