Thoughts on Translation

My journey to owning my own
Spanish to English translating service

See the new video version!

First of all, my name is Clint Tustison and I've had thoughts for the past 10 years on owning my own Spanish to English translating service. And guess what, now I'm finally realizing it.

But I'm getting ahead of myself here. Sorry :(

When I left high school, I knew that I wanted to learn Spanish. The mandatory two years of Spanish I had taken left me hungry to know more. I went to college for a year and then decided to spend two years in Latin America, specifically in Ecuador. There I had the opportunity to totally immerse myself in the language and culture of the region. I loved it there.

After those two years, I decided that my future was going to have something to do with Spanish. I wasn't quite sure what that was going to be at the time, but I did know that Spanish was the way to go.

About that time, I applied for and got a job as a civilian translator with the Utah National Guard. It was a great job that introduced me to the field of translation and there I excelled. I decided then that I would get a degree in Spanish translation, which fortunately was a major at Brigham Young University where I was going to school. I also got a degree in Linguistics, and then decided to spend two more years studying the structure of Language and got a Masters degree in Linguistics.

Throughout this period, I had been translating "in-house" for the Utah National Guard, and was also involved in doing various freelance translations. While I enjoyed translation, I quickly ran into a problem that every translator I know eventually faces: How do I market my service?

Being a freelance translator is not an easy task; not only do you have to be good at translating, but you also have to be good at every other aspect of owning your own business. Well, here I was, interested in doing translation work, but not knowing how to go about getting more of it.

About this time, I also started getting interested in the web. I began tinkering around with html coding and even took a couple of classes on building web pages. Some friends and I even had a go of trying to establish some online businesses, but without very much luck.

All this time, something bothered me about the web. I read more and more about how people were building websites and attracting visitors, and eventually making money, supposedly; however, whenever I read their versions of how they were making money, it always left a bad taste in my mouth because they were making money by talking about making money!

It didn't make sense to me. Here they were saying that if I paid a couple thousand dollars, I could have access to various ways of making money, but none of them practiced what they preached.

I was more than a bit turned off at this point, and decided that I would just keep trying to establish my Spanish to English translating service. A few years went by and I started getting interested in the web again and started to realize that there must be a way to grow my business by using online techniques.

I searched and searched and searched until I could barely type (OK, not that much, but you get the idea). I was getting discouraged, once again. Then one day, something happened. I found a website that didn't look like all the other hyped-up circular pitches everyone else was delivering.

Instead, it was a site that promised I could do what I love, whatever it was, and promote that on the web in a way that would beat every other wannabe out there. As I read more, everything just made sense in a way that I almost can't describe.

From that, this website was born and I have more of a presence on the web now than I ever did before. This has not only opened up more opportunities for my Spanish to English translating service, but also has opened up my eyes to a whole new way of making money from the web.

The company is called Sitesell and their product SiteBuildIt! was the greatest investment I've ever made. What's great about SiteBuildIt! is that it is a fully-loaded package that will allow you to get online and see real results in a way that will have the so-called "professionals" wondering how you did it.

SiteBuildIt! is for anybody that has ever thought about going online and to prove that to you, follow this link and you'll see how a ton of different people have used it in a lot of different small businesses and how their passions have helped them to become independent. Read these case-studies and see how "average" people are "mastering" the art of the web.

Once you read those over, check out the Action Guide: the step-by-step plan that if followed, will make a believer out of you.

It made one out of me.
