Spanish Translation Aids

For translators, having access to Spanish translation aids is very important, because without them, we wouldn't be able to do our jobs very effectively.

A lot of my friends who know I am a translator think (incorrectly, of course) that I know everything there is to know about Spanish and English, and that I can translate any type of document, any website, any book on any subject, and do it all without using any type of resource.

Well, any decent translator knows that this is definitely not the case. Even the best translators still rely on their Spanish translation aids to help them with their translations.

This becomes even more important when dealing with areas of specialization. Translators that deal with the legal, medal, chemical, or other fields find it essential to rely on aids because without them they wouldn't be nearly as good.

Translation aids can take different forms, too. Lots of translators still use paper books and glossaries. However, while these are still important, they are becoming more and more out of fashion because they take up space, are difficult to keep up-to-date, and are harder to search on.

Instead, more and more translators are using electronic databases to help them manage their translation glossaries and dictionaries.

In an effort to help translators (especially beginning translators) find the right Spanish translation aids, I've gathered together some specialized Spanish/English dictionaries and glossaries for various fields. Feel free to look through the links and check out the documents to help you get better at your translation skills.
