Spelling of the name Jesucristo

I have noticed that the s is dropped in the spanish translation of Jesus Christ to JesuCristo. In a older verison of the bible bfore 1909 it is stated JesusCristo and in any later translation it droppes the s making it now Jesucristo. Do you have any explaination as to why that is?
