Superlative without comparison?

(Sweden)

A Stranger commented: Some interesting point regarding why English/Spanish translation is hard. However; as far as my (admittedly non-native) English skills tell me, "hardest" implies a comparison. The statement of its being the hardest not only suggest the need for comparison to some other translation pair but to all other such pairs including English as one of the two.

In short, nothing much wrong with the article except it's totally off its said point.

The Spanish Translator: Very valid points, indeed. In the article I talk about the linguistic variation of Spanish in the United States, but I fail to point out what (if any) variation occurs in other languages inside the United States. It would be interesting to do a hard comparison between Spanish and other languages spoken in the U.S. and what kind of variation occurs.
