Translation Organizations by CountryInternational translation organizations aren't the only translation associations of which translators can take part. Many countries are home to translation organizations that have a specific goal to serve the translators and translation industry within a country. While some people believe that translators have to retain membership in these types of organizations, others think that these translator associations serve no purpose and aren't necessary at all. I fall somewhere in between. These organizations don't validate the quality of a translator and mere membership or certification from these types of organizations doesn't determine how well a translator is at running his or her freelance translation business. However, these organizations (especially the local chapters or country-specific ones) can help translators feel like they are not alone in their profession and can actually help translators become better at running their business.
