Making your own translation video to build your client base

Do a search on Youtube and you won't find too many translation videos or other business-oriented videos.

Most video websites started out hosting videos of stupid pranks or people doing dangerous stunts. However, video and the use of video as a medium on the Internet has been progressing and advancing.

More and more, videos are being used as a way to transmit quality information about things like humanitarian efforts and other worthwhile causes.

The future, though, is using video as a way to showcase your business and the services you offer. This is where making a translation video comes in.

Making a video about your freelance translation business can help potential clients feel comfortable about hiring you to translate their documents. Not only can you use the video to tell clients what kinds of services you offer, but a translation video puts a face behind the business and helps clients feel more at ease about hiring you.

If you decide to make a video, realize that it isn't very difficult and can be done with just a regular digital camera that has a video function.

When making the video about your translation business, you'll want to make sure you follow a few guidelines.

1. Keep the video short. The video shouldn't be longer than about two minutes. Anything longer and you run the risk of boring your audience.

2. Don't use text. When someone clicks on a video, they want to see somebody. They don't want to see a bunch of text slides put together with music playing in the background.

3. Keep it lively. This doesn't mean you have to do stupid tricks during your video. What it does mean is that you should have different shots of you speaking and edited together using MovieMaker or IMovie.

4. Talk about your business. In your video, help people feel comfortable with who you are, and let them know how you can help them with their translation needs.

Once you make your video, you can either put it on a video-sharing website like Youtube or host it straight on your website.

I have done this myself and made my own translation video that explains how I am able to get more business than ever before. Check it out if you'd like an example.
