Translations are just a faint copy of the original

In the end, the translator decides what exactly the orginal message is about.

Especially in some cases, you need more than just knowing both languages. You need to be well familiarized with the cultural background, idiosyncrasy of speakers, a historical background, and even the geography of the countries of the speakers using the languages, in this case Spanish and English.

Some translators even add "ITIWIM" (if that is what it meant) to the final translated page.
