Chete in Mexico
by: Tofer

Many regions in Mexico it's the short version of "cachete" = cheek. Meaning either a Hansome OR Ugly guy depending on the person using it, but it's one of the extremes (Not "kinda", "average", "ok" or "somewhat")
English equivalent: "Yeah, I'm just here with this ugly/handsome guy."

Meaning of chete
by: Benjamin

I live in Guatemala, and according to my colleagues, "chete" is like "pendejo", loosely translated as a--hole. So hopefully you can avoid being called that :)

Hope that helps,
