It means "cute" for many Spanish speakers. A term of endearment.

Although "la mona" can ve used in a derogatory manner to refer to a woman, it can actually mean something entirely different. "Dormir la mona" means heavy sleep after consuming alcohol and/or drugs.

A mono is a monkey in spanish, when someone says la mona they're probably referring to a young girl which in many societies is a term of endearment for "child". Literally it would be a female monkey but it's not considered ugly in many societies to use that word for children. In South America they call children chongos which is also monkies.
